The ideal session date is 7-10 days old but we photograph up to four weeks but it may change some of the posing we can achieve. Choose a date based on your due date, there is no charge for rescheduling once baby is born.
The newborn photo session
This session is such a sweet and memorable experience, and often the beginning of a wonderful photography journey. Choose from a shorter newborn session to the full-length session with special setups for each parent and siblings. Done in the studio, which is kept warm for the baby and provides all of the beautiful props, fabrics, and newborn outfits needed.
Best time for newborn photos
The ideal time to photograph a newborn is within the first 5 to 10 days old, when the baby is still sleepy and flexible for those adorable, curled-up poses. For premature babies, photos are often taken at their adjusted 5-10 day age, and these sessions are always successful. We can photograph babies a little older, though this may limit the poses we can achieve. I often photograph babies that are 3 or 4 weeks old, and the sessions go very well, so please don’t feel pressured to do the session earlier than you’re comfortable with.
Full-length newborn photo sessions typically last 2 to 3 hours, allowing time for feeding, changing, and comforting your baby. The time goes by quickly, and it is really a sweet and memorable experience.
Styling & Prep
While many clients are drawn to my signature style and ask me to design their sessions, I’m happy to have a call to plan the styling with you ahead of time. When you arrive at the photo studio, we’ll review the selections and make any necessary adjustments. After booking, you’ll receive a prep guide including tips for what to wear. I’m always happy to assist with wardrobe questions and am available to help at any time.
You’re welcome to bring a special item or family heirloom to incorporate into the session. If you have a rainbow baby or another significant experience to share in the session, we can plan to discuss how best to incorporate it into the photo session.
Image Delivery
Within ten days after your newborn photography session, the online preview gallery will be ready for viewing. This is where you’ll see your retouched images for the first time and select your favorites, choosing between digital images, artwork, or a combination of both to build your collection. Purchased digital images are delivered via your private online gallery with long-term access.
Every newborn session is planned with safety, comfort, and simplicity in mind. You’ll be guided through scheduling, preparation, and image selection, with the goal of making the entire process easy during an already full season of life.
Pricing
A retainer of $1490 is paid at the time of booking, $1200 is applied towards your purchase from the session. Add a newborn, milestone, or family session and save the session fee! Most families invest $1200 or more in their maternity session
Baby Plan: Documenting The First Year
Your newborn session is often the beginning of a wonderful friendship and many years of documenting your family's story! Our exclusive Baby Plan is designed to beautifully capture your baby's remarkable first year, offering a savings of 20-30% compared to booking individual sessions. This comprehensive plan can include a maternity session, followed by milestone sessions at 4, 7, and 12 months, documenting every giggle, crawl, and first step. These ages are the perfect time to capture your baby’s milestones, from crawling to sitting to standing at their first birthday. The One-Year-Old session is typically conducted as a birthday cake smash session. We especially love seeing these little ones return for their first birthday cake smash session!
