What is a session like?

The photo session often begins with somewhat traditional posed pictures. This gives everyone a chance to settle in, including me! We’ll then work into more relaxed and natural imagery. I’ll direct as I’m shooting - even though the images aren’t posed the direction will help everyone be at ease and understand what to do with their hands, where to look, etc.

Where are the suggested locations?

There are many factors to consider, in Minnesota weather is one of them for sure! With children temperature and safety are a factor, as is making sure there are areas for them to play during a break. One favorite is the Landscape Arboretum, there are several good spots to shoot and in the Spring, Summer and Fall the flowers and foliage are stunning. I have a few favorite spots on the lakes, river and parks around Minneapolis. At your own home is also a great option as it’s where everyone is at ease. Especially with babies I find at home sessions are wonderful.

When should we schedule?

It’s best to book ahead of time as the golden hour days book up quickly! The best time of day is early morning and late afternoon, often referred to as the golden hour.

What should we wear?

Once your session is booked I’ll send a thorough style guide for the whole family. I also have a pinterest board that can be used for inspiration. We will have a phone consult (or two) to discuss the shoot and wardrobe.

What happens after the photo session?

Within two days you’ll receive a link to your private gallery with a sneak peek. Within ten days you’ll receive the full gallery from the photo session. The gallery is where you’ll choose the images that will be used to create your artwork and for your digital files. Once the artwork and images are chosen I’ll finish any correction and retouching, order your artwork and deliver the digital files with print releases.

What is the cancellation policy?

Life happens, especially with little ones and I understand that rescheduling is at times unavoidable. Sessions may be cancelled 7 days prior to the scheduled sessions, they may be rescheduled 48 hours prior to the session time.
