Frequently Asked Questions

Some of the questions we hear more often! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with additional questions.

What should we wear?

Every session includes a prep guide with suggestions for what to wear. Lisa is also happy to assist with wardrobe selection. The studio offers some maternity dresses and fabrics. We also have some girls’ fancy dresses in sizes 2-5. For newborns, the studio supplies everything needed for the session. For babies, we have some 3, 6, and 9-month outfits.

What IS INCLUDED IN THE SESSION?

During a consutl with Lisa or any online purchase/booking, it will be noted clearly what is included in a session. Most are a creative fee with purchase after the session. Periodically all inclusive sessions and minis or specials are offered.

When should we schedule?

Maternity sessions The best time for a maternity session is at 7-8 months (28-34 weeks). If booked two or more months ahead, we can plan additional wardrobe options in the studio. Once the belly has popped but before getting really swollen.

Newborn sessions It is best to pre-book months ahead of time! We do accept last-minute booking if there’s availability. We will schedule the session for 7-16 days after your due date. When booked ahead I guarantee your session even if the delivery date changes. Just let me know within 48 hours of delivery and we will reschedule as needed.

Family sessions Lisa is moving to studio family sessions with a more fine art touch. Please inquire for details!

How long is a photo session?

There is typically not a hard stop on photo sessions. A newborn session lasts 2-3 hours, depending on stops for feedings and if siblings are in photos. A maternity session is 1-2 hours, also depending on breaks and number of outfits. A child session is 30-60 minutes, shorter is plenty of time, longer is fun if they’re up for it! The exception is the mini session where we must stick to the allotted time.

What happens after the photo session?

A zoom consult will be scheduled with Lisa to review your gallery about one week after the session. Or you can review and order through a private online gallery and store. Long-term access to your private online gallery is available after retouching is completed.

Delivery of artwork is from 2-8 weeks depending on the items and time of year (holidays).

What is the cancellation policy?

Life happens, especially with little ones and I understand that rescheduling is at times unavoidable. Sessions may be rescheduled, but there are times when the retainer will be lost. Contact Lisa to discuss options, we do our best to accommodate. Retainers are not refundable but can be applied to different session dates. Not showing up for a session forfeits the retainer.

Hours of operation

Evening appointments are not regularly available.

Weekend appointments are available two days each month for a weekend fee of $200.

In-home sessions are not offered for any type of session.

Extended family sessions are no longer offered.

 

COVID SAFETY

I am happy to wear a mask if requested. As school starts and flu season kicks in I do wear a mask for all newborn sessions.

As has always been the case, anyone that is sick should not attend. If you or your family has been exposed to Covid please contact me so that we can decide when to do the session.

There is no rescheduling fee for illness. We have strict health and safety measures in place to protect newborn babies and young children.

WHAT PAYMENT OPTIONS ARE OFFERED?

We accept cash, and credit cards and offer Afterpay. To use Afterpay please contact the studio and an invoice will be sent with the option available.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR RESCHEDULING

We do not charge for rescheduling but appreciate as much notice as possible. Newborn session dates are tentative. If your baby arrives early or late there is no charge and we guarantee pre-booked newborn sessions will be photographed in the 14 days or younger timeframe. If on the day of the session you know it’s going to be a rough day and want to reschedule, please just call and usually we can accomodate. We want it to be stress free!

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS OR MINI SESSIONS?

Periodically we offer specials, discounts, and mini sessions. To be alerted when these are available please sign up for the newsletter.

DO YOU RETOUCH BABY ACNE?

Yes, we are able to retouch baby acne and flaky skin. Typical retouching, like baby acne, is included. Atypical retouching like clothing wrinkles, head swaps, etc. will incur additional charges if requested. Newborn clients receive a prep guide with detailed information.

CAN I HAVE THE RAW/ORIGINAL IMAGES?

Raw images are not available for purchase. Your viewing gallery images will be soft-proofed. If you prefer to have your images as they are in your gallery, that is okay. We can discuss the level of retouching you prefer.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?

We love dogs! Lisa has a golden retriever that is often at the studio. If it is a well-behaved dog it is okay to bring it to the session. Often it’s a new environment so give your dog time to get adjusted and settled in.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

We highly recommend that you have your hair and makeup done. You can have someone come to the studio to do hair and makeup while your newborn is being photographed.
