These sessions often mark the beginning of a beautiful photography journey for a growing family. It's a lovely and memorable experience, celebrating the beauty of womanhood and motherhood.
Maternity photo sessions are done in our Minneapolis studio; outdoor sessions are available upon request. After booking, we will have a call to plan your style, wardrobe, backdrop colors, and more. Choose from hundreds of dress rentals, use the studio dresses, and/or bring your own wardrobe. The studio is spacious, featuring a dressing room and lounge area, a coffee shop, a park across the street, and ample free parking behind the building.
Timing
The ideal time to photograph your maternity session is typically between 28 and 36 weeks of pregnancy (generally during your seventh or eighth month), when your baby bump is beautifully prominent, and you feel comfortable. For optimal results, we recommend booking your session in your second trimester. Maternity photo sessions typically last 1 to 2 hours, allowing time for wardrobe changes, rest, and ensuring your comfort throughout. Time passes quickly, and it's a lovely and memorable experience.
Styling & Session Prep
A few weeks before your session, we’ll plan the look and feel, including backdrop colors and each outfit. It’s best to book early to secure access to your preferred gown if renting from the studio.
Pricing
The minimum investment for a full maternity session is $1,200. Periodically, I offer maternity specials, so please reach out or check the specials page.
After Your Session
Within ten days after your maternity session, we’ll review your gallery of images via Zoom, or you can view them through a private online gallery. This is where you'll see your retouched images for the first time and select your favorites, choosing between digital images, artwork, or a combination of both to build your collection. Purchased digital images are delivered within one week via your private online gallery with long-term access.
Your purchased images will be accessible via long-term gallery access, as well as through our professional print store and card designer, allowing you to order additional prints and custom cards directly from the manufacturer whenever you wish.

Use of studio gowns and fabrics, and access to rental gowns.

A private online gallery to make selections and purchases from your session.
An optional virtual ordering session with Lisa.
Custom wall art mock-up and album design if requested
We’ll discuss the look and wardrobe before your session to plan accordingly. During your photo session, Lisa will guide you through posing, so please don’t worry about knowing how to pose!

The most frequently asked questions about our maternity sessions!

I recommend scheduling your photo session between 28 and 36 weeks. For a second pregnancy, we can often do it a bit sooner. We want to time it when your belly has popped, but before foot swelling sets in.
It’s best to book your session early in the second trimester.

Yes, your family is welcome to join the session. We have a seating area, a restroom, a park across the street, and a great coffee shop just outside the front door.

Yes, we do offer outdoor maternity sessions. Please reach out or select outdoor when booking, and we will be in touch to select a location together.

Your image gallery will be delivered within two weeks of your session.

We have a generous cancellation policy. If you are unable to attend the session, it may be rescheduled, based on availability, or kept as a credit to use towards any other session.

Yes! We love having the family dogs at sessions. Please check with us to ensure they’re allowed, but most of the locations we use permit dogs.
TIP: Arrive early and let your dog get familiar and sniff around well before the session. Also, tire your dog out before the session!

We do not provide raw files or unedited images. The gallery will be culled down to 25-35 images. All will be retouched. You can select and download the quantity included in your package, and there is an option to purchase additional photos.
