Baby’s First Year Photo Sessions
Every step of your newborn photography experience is designed to be professional and stress-free with a seamless process, from a dedicated client portal for clear communication to thorough session prep guides and a beautiful online gallery with easy image delivery. You can relax and enjoy the process during this already busy and special time for your family.
Oftent he newborn session is the start of a long relationship with a family. Many also do milestone and birthday sessions, then of course some siblings arrive and we do their newborn sessions. It’s really wonderful getting to know so many families and being a part of their journey to parenthood.
The newborn package includes digital files but we also offer stunning albums and other artwork. Most families choose to do a fine art album for the newborn and first birthday sessions.
Best time for newborn photos
The ideal time to photograph a newborn is within the first 5 to 110 days old, when the baby is still sleepy and flexible for those adorable, curled-up poses. The studio provides a controlled, warm, and calm environment perfect for your baby’s comfort and safety. For premature babies, photos are often taken at their adjusted 5-10 day age, and these sessions are always successful. We can photograph babies a little older, although this may limit the poses that can be achieved.
Newborn photo sessions typically last 2 to 3 hours, allowing time for feeding, changing, and comforting your baby. The time goes by quickly, and it is really a sweet and memorable experience.
Styling & Prep
While many clients are drawn to my signature style and ask me to design their sessions, I’m happy to have a call to plan the styling with you ahead of time. When you arrive at the photo studio, we’ll review the selections and make any necessary adjustments. After booking, you’ll receive a prep guide including tips for what to wear. I’m always happy to assist with wardrobe questions and am available to help at any time.
You’re welcome to bring a special item or family heirloom to incorporate into the session. If you have a rainbow baby or another significant experience to share in the session, that is something we can plan to discuss on how to address it best.
Image Delivery
Within ten days after your newborn photography session, the online preview gallery will be ready for viewing. This is where you’ll see your retouched images for the first time and select your favorites, choosing between digital images, artwork, or a combination of both to build your collection. Purchased digital images are delivered via your private online gallery with long-term access.

Baby Plan: Documenting The First Year
Your newborn session is often the beginning of a wonderful friendship and many years of documenting your family's story! Our exclusive Baby Plan is designed to beautifully capture your baby's remarkable first year, offering a savings of approximately 30% compared to booking individual sessions. This comprehensive plan can include a maternity session, followed by milestone sessions at 4, 7, and 12 months, documenting every giggle, crawl, and first step. These ages are the perfect time to capture your baby’s milestones, from crawling to sitting to standing at their first birthday. The One-Year-Old session is typically conducted as a birthday cake smash session. We especially love seeing these little ones return for their first birthday cake smash session!
