As a Minneapolis-based newborn, baby, and child photographer, one of the most exciting things for me is seeing my little clients return for their milestone and birthday photoshoots.
There is something truly special about documenting a baby’s first year.
When it comes to baby photography, there's no denying that newborn sessions get all the attention. And for good reason! There's nothing quite like those first few weeks of a baby's life. But as any parent knows, the time flies by quickly, and before you know it, your little one is sitting up, crawling, and eventually walking. Capturing these milestones is just as important as capturing those newborn moments.
I always encourage my clients to schedule milestone sessions for their babies. These sessions typically are done when the baby is around 6-8 months old and then again near their first birthday. These sessions are such a wonderful way to capture your baby's fleeting milestones.
I recently photographed this sweet little girl for her milestone session, and it was an absolute joy. I had done her newborn session, so it was so special to see how much she had grown and changed in just a few short months. She was full of smiles and giggles, and we had so much fun playing with different props and backgrounds.
One of the things I love most about milestone sessions is that the babies do so well; they are quick and low-stress yet produce the most adorable images.
Of course, the most important thing is that the baby is comfortable and happy during the session. I always take the time to get to know my little clients and make sure they feel at ease. This helps me capture their true personalities and creates a fun, relaxed atmosphere for everyone involved.
