Document your family’s connection with beautiful photography.

Outdoor Family Lifestyle Photo Session

Choose from a custom full-length session with multiple locations or a quick seasonal mini-session (or two!) to keep family and children’s portraits up to date.

Custom outdoor family photo sessions

Outdoor family sessions are truly a wonderful experience. While a 90-minute session might seem long, I can assure you that it passes quickly and is well worth it! You can choose from our pre-selected locations, or we can select a spot that holds meaning for your family. We also offer a limited number of “day in the life” sessions where I come to your home or cabin to spend the day documenting your family. These are more artistic and naturally emotive, resulting in a beautiful gallery.

A blend of lifestyle photography and traditional family poses. These sessions are held at some of the most beautiful locations in the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. Locations are selected for their diverse foliage, backgrounds, and other elements to create a large, varied gallery of images. Most sessions are conducted within 1-2 hours before sunset, but we know that late in the day can be challenging with young children. We are happy to accommodate an earlier time if needed.

The studio sessions offer more flexibility in timing and will feature more posed portraiture. The studio sessions always include my signature black-and-white child portraits as well.

The retainer fee is $1,200 for four hours, with a minimum investment of $2,400, including the retainer.

The Day In The Life Session

These sessions are particularly unique and memorable. Children relax into it very quickly. I’ll gently set up or direct moments; some are simply captured. It evolves through the day. Most of these sessions last 4-6 hours at your home.

These photo sessions are fun and relaxed, allowing children to run around and enjoy the natural surroundings, often resulting in genuine smiles and joyful expressions. The 90-minute session may sound lengthy, but it goes by quickly as everyone gets into the flow of the experience. Even the most camera-shy children end up having a great time!

The retainer fee is $1,200 for four hours, with a minimum investment of $3,600, including the retainer.

Extended Family Sessions

Only a few of these are offered each year. Please don't hesitate to contact us to inquire about availability and discuss the number of attendees and your goals for the session. Typically, these sessions last about four hours.

What to Expect

Every family photography session with Lisa Poseley Photography is designed to be enjoyable and stress-free. Here’s what you can expect:

  • We’ll select the best location and finalize the session details. I have several preferred locations, or we can discuss a custom location that suits your family, such as your home or another preferred location. You’ll receive a session prep guide with tips on what to wear and how to prepare.

  • After booking, you’ll receive a session prep guide, and I’m always available for a consultation to discuss wardrobe options and any other specifics.

  • On the day of the session, we’ll focus on capturing a variety of images—group shots, individual portraits, and candid moments. Outdoor sessions allow kids to move freely and enjoy the process, while studio sessions provide a more controlled environment for creating timeless portraits.

  • After the session, you’ll receive a private online gallery where you can select and purchase images from your session. I’m happy to meet in person or via Zoom to review your gallery together, select images, and help with any wall art, album, and other artwork.

  • If you are planning wall art for your home, I offer a complimentary service of mocking up the artwork on images of your home to scale.

The kids had so much fun, and the whole experience was stress-free and enjoyable. Lisa has a true gift for making everyone feel comfortable and bringing out the best in each of us.”

FAMILY SESSION FAQ

The most frequently asked questions about our family sessions!

  • We have a generous cancellation policy. If you are unable to attend the session, it may be rescheduled, based on availability, or kept as a credit to use towards any other session. The retainer is nonrefundable but may be applied toward another session of any kind.

  • Cloudy weather is preferable, but rain or strong winds are not! If we need to cancel, we will work with you to select a new date for the session.

  • Yes! We love having the family dogs at sessions. Please check with us to ensure they’re allowed, but most of the locations we use permit dogs.

TIP: Arrive early and let your dog get familiar and sniff around well before the session. Also, tire your dog out before the session!

  • Usually, children do very well at these sessions because they’re low-stress, and I love working with kids and making them feel welcome.

Please follow the advice to avoid putting pressure on children. Don’t ask them to smile or to continually repeat the directions I give. Trust the process! I may ask parents to step out of eyesight briefly.

  • We do not typically provide raw files or unedited images. If you really want the RAW files and all rights, there is a large fee per image.

The gallery will be culled down to 25-35 images. All will be retouched. You can select and download the number of photos included in your package, and there is an option to purchase additional photos.

  • Your image gallery will be delivered within two weeks of your session.

You may select images/products online, and I am happy to do a gallery review and ordering session with you via Zoom.

  • I offer only the finest products available. Choose from prints to fine art albums and wall art.

The albums, folio boxes, and image boxes are made at alb in Europe.

The Gallery wraps are from Guild, widely known to be the best available, and I have access to slim profile, which most photographers cannot order.

The frames are, and the fine art prints are from the premier lab for these items in the US.

We do not sell the typical albums and artwork you see in the industry. These will last for generations.
