Your Newborn Photography Session at Our Minneapolis Studio

The magic of newborn photography is truly captured within the first 5 to 14 days after birth, when your little one is typically in their deepest sleep and most flexible for those adorable, curled-up poses. Our newborn sessions are exclusively held in our Minneapolis studio, offering a controlled, warm, and serene environment that is perfect for your baby's comfort and safety. We'll collaboratively plan your session to reflect your aesthetic, ensuring a personalized experience. While 5-14 days is ideal, we understand that every baby is unique; for premature babies, photos are often taken at their adjusted 5-14 day age and are always wonderful, successful sessions. Lisa’s twins were born prematurely, so she is very familiar and comfortable working with preemies. We can also photograph babies a little older, although it may limit the poses that can be achieved.

During your 2- to 3-hour session, you can fully relax, knowing your baby is in expert hands. Our studio is equipped with everything needed, from a curated selection of high-quality props, wraps, and outfits to a comfortable lounge area for parents. We allow ample time for feeding, changing, and comforting, making the session stress-free for everyone. This dedicated time ensures we capture a diverse gallery of stunning portraits, from individual baby shots to tender family connections.

Styling & Preparation

While many clients are drawn to my signature style and entrust me to design their sessions, I’m happy to have a call to plan the styling and review their preferences ahead of time. When you arrive at your newborn session, we'll go over the selections and make any necessary adjustments. After booking, a thorough prep guide is sent out. This guide includes great tips for what to wear and what to expect, ensuring you arrive prepared, even though you don't need to bring anything aside from being ready for an extra feeding or two. I'm always happy to assist with wardrobe questions and am available to help at any time.

You’re welcome to bring a special item or family heirloom to incorporate into the session. If you have a rainbow baby or another significant experience to share in the session, that is something we can plan to discuss on how to address it best.

Our Baby Plan: Documenting The First Year

Your newborn session is often the beginning of a wonderful friendship and many years of documenting your family's story! Our exclusive Baby Plan is designed to beautifully capture your baby's remarkable first year, offering a savings of approximately 30% compared to booking individual sessions. This comprehensive plan can include a maternity session, followed by milestone sessions at 4, 7, and 12 months, documenting every giggle, crawl, and first step. These ages are the perfect time to capture your baby’s milestones, from crawling to sitting to standing at their first birthday. The One-Year-Old session is typically conducted as a birthday cake smash session. We especially love seeing these little ones return for their first birthday cake smash session!

Can we bring our dog?

Yes! We love dogs, and they are welcome to join the session; after all, they are part of the family. Depending on your dog's temperament, they may stay for the entire session or just for their portion. In the interest of safety, the dog and baby are sometimes photographed separately and then composited together into one image.

What should I bring to the studio?

You and your baby! We provide all props, wraps, and outfits for the baby. We recommend being prepared for extra feedings, bringing pacifiers (even if you don't use one regularly, it can help with soothing during the session), and snacks or drinks for yourselves. There is also a great coffee shop downstairs. We’ll send a detailed prep guide upon booking.
